Postdoctoral Associate
Huiwen Zhu
Huiwen joined the lab as a postdoc associate to work with Mike. She is interested in understanding the thalamocortical neural circuitry behind cognitive functions such as decision making during different states. Currently she is focusing on uncovering neural circuits of how our brain actually makes decisions during sleep. Prior to MIT, Huiwen was a research fellow in the National Institute of Mental Health, where she mainly focused on molecular and cellular mechanisms of synapse development and plasticity in normal and schizophrenic brains. She did her Ph.D. with Prof. Lan Ma in Fudan University Shanghai Medical College. During her graduate research, she worked on mapping and decoding the engram circuitry underlying addiction memory. In her spare time, she likes traveling and jogging.
